2008-2009 Prize Winners
"This years entrants presented a variety of artefact types from a branching interactive video story and language learning artefact, a edutainment piece and interactive story-telling. After some consideration we chose the branching interactive video story for our first prize., This piece of work felt very dark and atmospheric, even a little claustrophobic with the constant rain and hunched up viewing. Being able to make decisions about where to go and what to do made for exciting viewing with unpredictable outcomes. A really good piece that I would like to see further developed. The runners-up prize we awarded to a language learning piece. A nice, simple interface made using this software easy and inviting, plus I have always wanted to be able to count in Japanese" - Nick Curnick-Orrin, Director and Lead Trainer of Optimise Consultancy Ltd.

2007-2008 Prize Winners
"In considering the entries this year we were struck by the enthusiasm of the use of sound in interaction design explored by Nicole Simms work entitled 'As I was going to St Ives'. While we felt that Chris Reeds visual treatment of his interface complemented the playfulness of the interactivity in his artefact entitled 'Afro Chickens' ". - Nick Curnick-Orrin, Director and Lead Trainer of Optimise Consultancy Ltd.

First prize of £40.00 is awarded to:
Nicole Simms (Level One) "I think its great, I'm not used to winning things. And I'm really happy that people enjoyed my work as I really worked hard on it. When I got the email that I won I had to get my mom to read it for me, as I couldn't believe my eyes." - Nicole Simms

Runners-up prize of £20.00 is awarded to:
Chris Reed (Level Two) "I was chuffed to hear about this because I've never received a prize for a piece of my work before. I also found this encouraging and motivating to try and produce some even better work in the future, and to enter these kind of competitions whenever there's nothing to lose." - Chris Reed

The prizes were given out on the evening of June 6th at the private view of this years School of Art and Design Degree Show.
